acatalectique/acatalectic, adj., from the Latin acatalectus, from the Greek άκατάλυκτος akatalêktos : « which does not cease ».

ÉTUDE SÉMANTIQUE / Definitions

Said of a line which is metrically complete in its syllables by opposition to a catalectic verse which is truncated, lacking an unaccented syllable in its final foot, and to an hypercatalectic, or hypermetrical, or rebundant verse which contains an extra syllable.
